Sam Darnold Injury: Seahawks QB Exits Opener vs Patriots

What Happened to Sam Darnold? The injury occurred on Seattle's first offensive series. Darnold was sacked by Patriots defensive lineman Dre'Mont Jones, and his right leg appeared to take the brunt of the impact as he was driven into the turf. Darnold limped off the field, was examined in the sideline medical tent, and then headed to the locker room. The Seahawks initially listed him as questionable to return before ruling him out for the remainder of the game at halftime. Initial Diagnosis: Good News for Seahawks Fans Head coach Mike Macdonald provided a positive update after the game, confirming that Darnold did not fracture any bones. Macdonald called the initial diagnosis "positive" but noted that more tests would be needed. "At this point we were able to rule out a fracture. It's tough losing (Darnold)." — Seahawks Coach Mike Macdonald
